Payton Dastrup Switches Commitment on Letter of Intent Day & Signs With BYU

Last Thursday, many Cougar fans were sad about the news of four-star recruit, Payton Dastrup (Mesa, Arizona) committing to Thad Matta and Ohio State.  It was another chapter of a highly-touted recruit holding a press conference and leaving the Cougars at the alter.  Then today, national signing day, Dastrup pulled a shocker and faxed in his letter of intent to Coach Rose and BYU.

Dastrup told Scout.com that he had a change of heart.  Said he grew up a BYU fan his whole life and he felt a bit empty about his Ohio State commitment.  Cougar fans are thrilled that the emptiness led Dastrup to Provo.

BYU’s 2014 class is shaping up to potentially be a Top-25 class. 247sports.com has BYU ranked as the 22nd best class in the country for 2014.
