Recruiting: Ty Detmer’s Nephew Receives an Offer from LSU

facebooktwitterreddit

Ty Detmer, perhaps the most revered and accomplished of all BYU quarterbacks, tweeted tonight that his nephew Zadock Dinkleman, had been offered a scholarship to LSU today.

First of all, what a name!!! Bravo to the Dinkleman parents! What may be even more impressive than his name is the fact that the young quarterback is just an 8th grader! Dinkleman is listed as the number one quarterback recruit in the 2018 recruiting class (no, that’s not a typo), and LSU wasted no time in snatching him up.

While he still has the equivalent of 1/4 of his life (thus far) before he needs to make his decision, it is quite an honor to receive an offer from a prestigious SEC school at such a young age.

Dinkleman is the latest posterity of Ty Detmer to become an NCAA signal caller. From 1992-1996 his brother Koy was the quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes and later enjoyed a ten year career in the NFL, all but one of year of which was spent with the Philadelphia Eagles.  Koy’s son (Koy Jr.) will be a senior this fall at Somerset High School (San Antonio) and has listed BYU at the top of his list of potential schools. While he has not yet officially been offered, Koy Jr. is undoubtedly on BYU’s radar both due to the Detmer name on his jersey as well as his top performance both at BYU’s 2013 football camp as well as during his career thus far.

[UPDATE] Dinklemann committed to LSU tonight shortly after receiving his offer.  Link to the story.
