Leading up to Fall Camp at the end of the month, here at Lawless Republic we will be giving you a daily glimpse at the signees and return missionaries that will be part of the 2014 BYU Football team.

McCoy Hill QB/TE Jordan High School; Sandy, UT; Texas McAllen Mission

Before BYU:  McCoy Hill threw for over 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns as a senior at Jordan High School.  Hill also had 19 rushing touchdowns on his way to being named to the 5A All State First Team.  Because of Hill’s impressive numbers, he had recruiting interest from all the schools in the state, including Utah, Utah State, Weber State, and Southern Utah.  Hill committed to BYU as a tight end.

Expectations in2014: Quarterback depth With the transfer of Ammon Olsen and Billy Green, BYU’s quarterback depth chart became a little thin.  Hill has athleticism and passing ability to be a player at BYU, but hopefully this year Hill just adds depth.

Potential in BYU Career:  Rotational tight end I do like what I have seen on Hill’s film at quarterback, but I don’t believe he has the QB ability that Taysom Hill, Trent Hosick, and Tanner Mangum have.  I believe after the 2014 season, Hill will move back to tight end.  His athleticism is something that Robert Anae will want on the field and McCoy Hill could be a playmaker at tight end.
