It’s finally game day. We’ve waited all year for the season to start, and now it’s time for some actual football.
BYU is kicking off their fourth year as a FBS Independent against the Connecticut Huskies who usher in the Bob Diaco era.
Tonight’s game is the first of five games BYU has scheduled on ESPN this season.
ESPN’s number one Friday night crew will be on the call. A familiar voice to BYU fans will be handling the play-by-play duties in Dave Flemming. Flemming is a fixture on late-night West Coast Conference Basketball games for ESPN, now he brings his talents to the gridiron. Flemming is paired with former Florida State quarterback, Danny Kanell. Handling the sidelines will be Allison Williams.
This is the first meeting between the two schools, and is the first of a two-game series that will see UConn travel to BYU in 2015 on October 31st.
Fun Fact: The last time BYU won a season-opener away from Provo by more than one-point was in 1993 against New Mexico. BYU won that game 34-31.
It has been a long time since BYU had a blowout win on the road to open a season.
This game should be the marquee matchup on an underwhelming Friday night slate of games in College Football.
