BYU football added a fourth member to its 2019 recruiting class. South Florida wide receiver Khymani Martin is the latest Cougar commit.

Khymani Martin, a 6-foot-2 and 180-pound wide receiver, is the newest member of the BYU football family.

There isn’t a whole lot that’s known about Martin, but former BYU football wide out Margin Hooks said he’s got “South Florida speed.”

Speaking of Hooks, Martin has been working out and training with him. Hooks knows a thing or two about talented wide receivers, and he’s already helped BYU bring in wide outs.

Martin plays for Archbishop McCarthy High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Last season he averaged nearly 35 yards per reception. Martin also runs track.

He isn’t ranked by the major recruiting trackers, but Martin also received interest from Texas Tech.

Martin spoke to BYUInsider.com, opening up on why he chose BYU football.

“Mainly because of the support system, standards, the environment in the campus and the atmosphere,” Martin said. “The coaching staff showed that they believe in me and trust me through words and actions.”

Martin was offered a scholarship on April 3. It took just 10 days for him to commit. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He recently took a visit to BYU, where he was able to get a vibe for the campus. Martin fell in love with it. He also got some extensive time with Kalani Sitake and Ty Detmer.

Martin told ESPN 960 host Ben Criddle that meeting Detmer was a “once in a lifetime opportunity.”

Martin joins Chuck Alatini (four-star), Tausili Fiatoa (three-star) and Siaki Ika (not rated) in the Cougars’ 2019 recruiting class.
