Five out of the eight former BYU Football players on active NFL rosters saw action in Week 3, some with significant results.

NFL Week 3 is in the books.

How about those Bronwns? And those Bills?

For different former BYU Football standouts on active rosters, the third week meant different things. For some it meant branching out, for others it meant continuing to solidify strengths.

Five former Cougars saw action this week, while two missed time due to injury and another sat as a coach’s decision.

Let’s look at how all eight fared:

Taysom Hill (New Orleans Saints)

Saints Head Coach Sean Payton keeps finding new ways to use Hill. He did a little bit of everything on Sunday, returning three kickoffs for 64 yards, getting a tackle on punt coverage, and running the ball out of a wildcat-like offensive set.

He picked up his first rushing yards of his NFL career, rushing three times for 39 yards, including a 35-yard run that set up a late touchdown in New Orleans’ 43-37 overtime win.

Fred Warner (San Francisco 49ers)

Another weekend, another double-digit tackle game for Warner. He finished with a team-high 11 tackles, including two tackles for a loss, and also had a pass deflection.

It wasn’t quite enough, though, as the 49ers lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 38-27.

Jamaal Williams (Green Bay Packers)

Williams didn’t get a lot of touches on the ground as the Packers played from behind the entire game, but his five rushes for 29 yards equaled out to an impressive 5.9 yards per carry.

He also caught two balls out of the backfield for 16 yards.

Kyle Van Noy (New England Patriots)

Van Noy didn’t stuff the stat sheet as much as he has in other games, but he had seven solid tackles, three of them solo, in the Patriots’ loss to the Detroit Lions.

John Denney (Miami Dolphins)

Denney continued his active games streak at long snapper in Miami’s 28-20 win over the Oakland Raiders. It’s his 211th straight game, the longest active streak in the NFL.

Michael Davis (Los Angeles Chargers)

Davis didn’t see action (Coach’s Decision) in Sunday’s 35-23 cross-town loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Ezekiel Ansah (Detroit Lions)

For a second straight week, Ansah sat out as he’s attempting to rehab a shoulder injury. His Lions knocked off Kyle Van Noy’s Patriots 26-10.

Daniel Sorensen (Kansas City Chiefs)

Sorensen is still out after knee surgery, although he should be approaching the point where his knee will be evaluated. An update on his expectations for this season should come soon.
