Mike Holmgren is one of the most well known and successful coaches in football.  Holmgren has been an NFL head coach for 15 years, coaching his teams [Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks] to three Super Bowls, and winning one of them with the Green Bay Packers in 1996.  Holmgren’s tenure at BYU began in 1982, where he spent four seasons as the quarterbacks coach under LaVell Edwards.  Holmgren was key in developing and mentoring future All-American and NFL quarterbacks Steve Young and Robbie Bosco, who would also finish second and third in the Heisman Trophy Balloting, respectively.  Holmgren also played a pivotal role in helping lead BYU to a National Championship in 1984.  Holmgren should also be credited with mentoring future NFL coach Andy Reid while at BYU.  In 1986, Holmgren would depart BYU to become the quarterbacks coach for the San Francisco 49ers, thus beginning a long and successful coaching career in the NFL.
