Friday night at BYU’s “Midnight Madness” event, Boom Shakalaka, the Cougar Cagers donned some new jerseys for the upcoming season.
We didn’t get to see the road jerseys which would darkest shade of royal blue, but we did see the home whites.
Initial thought on the jerseys, was why did they make a switch in the first place? Last year’s jerseys (pictured above) were used only last season and were some of the best jerseys BYU Hoops has ever had.
Getting new jerseys on a yearly basis isn’t something new to BYU Basketball though. Every year during the Steve Cleveland era (1997-2005), BYU had a new uniform.
Here’s some pictures of the 2014-15 BYU Basketball home uniforms.
The font on the front of the jersey is a downgrade compared to last year’s uniforms, but the shorts are an upgrade. The addition of the oval around the Y is a nice touch. I’ll be curious to see what the warmups and shooting shirts look like, if any changes.
BYU Basketball has been a Nike program since 1999, but the Cougars have never had the level of gear and merchandise like some of Nike’s ELITE basketball programs, despite the Cougars success over the past decade on the hardwood.
