Aloha Stadium

Where: Honolulu, Hawaii

Capacity: 50,000

BYU football’s all-time regular season record at Aloha Stadium: 12-8

BYU postseason record at Aloha Stadium: 0-1 (1992, 23-20 loss to Kansas)

Overall, BYU has won the majority of its games at Hawaii. But there’s a reason many fans throw the phrase “nightmare at Aloha Stadium” around.

All eight of Hawaii’s wins against BYU have come on the Big Island and some were devastating for the Cougars.

  • 2001: 72-45 loss ends BYU’s chances at an undefeated season.
  • 1990: 59-28 loss was BYU’s only conference loss of the season.
  • 1989: 56-14 loss is still BYU’s biggest loss to Hawaii

Yet some brilliant moments shine through the bad memories, especially one from 1984.

Kyle Morrell’s amazingly timed jump kept Hawaii out of the end zone and preserved a national championship season for BYU.
