Bob Stitt, former Montana Head Coach

Montana just opted to not renew Stitt’s contract, to mixed reactions from fans.

Stitt went 21-14 at Montana, but struggled against rival Montana State (we know the feeling). NBC Montana reports that Stitt had a base salary of $175,000 per year.

That number is significant, because it means he’s affordable to a program that struggles to get the funding it deserves.

This season, Montana averaged 35 points per game while racking up seven wins.

The Grizzlies also averaged 149.8 rushing yards per game, 305.5 passing yards per game (10th in the FCS) and 5.8 yards per play.

Also of note, Stitt led Montana to a win over the Carson Wentz-led North Dakota State Bisons in 2015 – so he’s no stranger to big games. He also has an FCS playoff victory to his name.
