2022 and Beyond

Starting in 2022, the schedules aren’t full enough to measure exactly how strong the home schedules will be, but there are specific games to look forward to, spanning all the way to 2030.

2022 has three home games scheduled

  • Utah State
  • East Carolina
  • Baylor

That’s one Power Five team, one in-state team, and a Group of Five team that could be pretty good. It’s a good start to the schedule, but the three unknown games will determine if it’s closer to 2018 or 2019.

2023 also has three games so far:

  • Tennessee
  • Boise State
  • Stanford

BYU could play just those three games and it would be a better home slate than 2018. Anything else that gets scheduled will be icing on the cake.

Jumping ahead to 2025, there’s three home games on tap:

  • Stanford
  • Minnesota
  • Virgina

Again, those three will make it a good schedule by themselves. Especially if Bronco is still at Virginia.

2026 only has one home game so far, but it’s Arizona, wrapping up a long and confusing series of games.

Finally, in 2030, the Cougars have scheduled a pair of ACC teams, NC State and Virginia Tech. There’s no way to tell how good those two teams will be in twelve years, but they create the beginnings of a good schedule.

There you have it. Suffering through the 2018 home games may stink, but with a little patience there’s plenty of good football in store at LaVell Edwards Stadium in 2019 and beyond.
