BYU Recruit of the Week: Jaren Hall

facebooktwitterreddit

BYU commit Jaren Hall is the son of former BYU running back, Kalin Hall, he currently plays for Mapleton High School. He is rated a 3* athlete by: Rivals, Scout, 247, and ESPN. He unlike his old man, however, plays Quarterback. He is really interesting because at 6′ and 190 is really a little bit undersized to play QB (that didn’t stop Johnny Manziel or Russel Wilson) however he is a perfect candidate to run the offense that Offensive Coordinator Robert Anae wants to run. He is a legitimate dual threat from quarterback, and has some gorgeous throws on the run, looking more than comfortable doing so as well. He has a legitimate arm, capable of making all of the necessary throws. He is also very impressive scrambling away from pressure. It is easy to see why the cougars want him so bad.

Jaren Hall is a really, really talented player. He was only offered by BYU and Utah, but is currently being pursued by: ASU, Arkansas, Nebraska, Stanford, Texas A&M, and USC, to name a few. I think BYU will get him. He is already committed and has stated in interviews with Scout.com that he is solid as a rock. This is music to my ears.

BYU, is probably exploring alternatives to quarterback as well. He runs a 4.5 40 yard dash, meaning Hall posses the athleticism to play a number of positions, if the whole quarterback thing doesn’t work out, as it often does. So his versatility is a key point to his overall value. I really like him at receiver he’s got speed and size. He also could play safety, which is a natural transition from QB, and is what converted quarterbacks normally play. Whatever he plays, Jaren Hall will be an awesome addition for the cougars, and I can’t wait to see him suit up for us. He has the ability to be great at BYU.
