BYU football got a new addition to the roster on Sunday, acquiring the services of talented JUCO cornerback Trevion Greene.

UPDATE: 12:55 P.M., March 28. After speaking with Trevion Greene, stats were updated and he confirmed he will not play WR at BYU.

Trevion Greene is the newest member of the BYU football family.

Greene, a 6-foot-4, 190 pound cornerback previously played for Chabot College. Chabot College is a community college in Hayward, California with a student body of 13,145.

Greene logged 33 tackles and broke up nine passes in 10 games last season.

He made the announcement on his Twitter.

It was an insanely fast turnaround for the Cougars and Greene. He attended the BYU football spring scrimmage on Saturday, received a scholarship offer that day, and committed on Sunday.

Greene does have a loose connection with BYU. He played with Squally Canada in high school.

He’s incredibly fast – there are reports that he ran a 4.39 40-yard dash. And his tape shows that he’s a real athlete.

The Cougars are in desperate need of athletes at the wide receiver spots, and recruiting at those positions has always been difficult for BYU.

But, Greene will not be playing offense with the Cougars.

“I will be 100% DB,” Greene told me.

Greene will be one heck of an addition to an already stout secondary. He’s got three years to play three seasons, so he’ll be eligible when he arrives on campus this fall.

He’s a really good press corner, who is adept at opening his hips and turning with receivers. He doesn’t seem like a player that will get beat deep often. Greene also has experience returning kicks, which may prove helpful.

All in all, Greene is a very strong get for the Cougars. He’s a dynamic athlete and will likely fight for playing time early. You can watch his Chabot College highlights here.
