Ahhhhh, take a deep breath… yes, breath it all in BYU football fans… July is well under way and football is beginning to permeate the air.

In just a few short weeks the BYU football program will open Fall camp and begin preparations for the 2017 season. The long wait for BYU football is almost over.

The 2017 campaign is an extremely important one for BYU football. Coming off a very solid 9-4 debut season for Kalani Sitake, the program has a bit of momentum and needs to build off that momentum by taking things to the next level. It’s time for BYU football to get back into the 10-win club. It’s time for BYU football to return to the Top 25.

The 2017 schedule has some very tough spots, but should be somewhat manageable for a team that returns a lot of talent on both sides of the ball. Entering year 2 of the Detmer and Tuiaki systems will also be a huge plus for this program.

I believe this schedule is particularly manageable when you break things down into 4 realistic goals. The team itself will obviously talk about goals to “take things one week at a time” and “try to get better every week” and every other cliche thing we’ll hear in camp.

But as a fan, I have four attainable goals for this team that I believe are both realistic, and a road map to 10+ wins.

Let’s examine these four goals.
