Letter-To-The-Editor Goes Viral (PHOTOS)

A BYU student decided to write a letter to the Daily Universe on how annoyed she is with the “Idol Worshipping” going on around the BYU campus lately.  Here’s the link to the letter.

If your too lazy to click and you just want to stay on Cougar Center (and honestly who doesn’t) then here’s the entire letter this student wrote.

"I can’t walk across campus without hearing Jimmer Fredette’s name a dozen times. His name comes up everywhere: in class, at work, during lunch …  really, people? Cut it out with the Jimmer worship. Last time I checked, idol worship was very much frowned upon in the scriptures.Don’t you have a life to live? Then quit wasting it in front of the TV or in lines at the Marriott Center.At the very least, stop trying to convert those of us who don’t follow BYU sports and don’t care that baseball and badminton are two different things. Pushing basketball on us isn’t going to make us like it any better.I’m not blaming Jimmer for all this; was it Nephi’s fault in the Book of Mormon when his brothers worshiped him? As far as I’m concerned, Jimmer is perfectly free to live his dreams. If he reaches his goals and lives his dreams, more power to him. I would like the same courtesy from his fans: let me live my own dreams in peace, even if they don’t include ever sitting in the Marriott Center screaming my brains out.Michelle PeraltaApple Valley, Calif"

BYU sports isn’t for everyone on the BYU campus.  As shocking as it sounds, that is actual truth.  Some people just genuinely don’t care about BYU athletics, and are going to get one of the best educations around.  That’s fine.  But to belittle people for being excited and mention scriptures to back you up, is a tad bit ridiculous.

Last we checked, BYU sports brings a lot of positive exposure to this University, and without these teams who’s to say the University is as successful and popular as it is today?

The funny thing from all of this is the social media outrage.  Someone grabbed some screenshots of this student’s Faceboo status conversation she had in reference to the Jimmer letter.  Some funny stuff.  Bless the internet!

Our favorite comment though comes from the young lady who says, “Too bad you haven’t had a ‘Jimmergasm’ yet”.  Ah, BYU students lettin the feathers fly.  She then proceeds to say she is a multiple “Jimmergasm” woman.  Sounds like a Cougar Center subscriber,  if I was a betting man like Bean of course.
