Let the Countdown Begin: 99 Days! Happy Riley Stephenson Day!
By Mitch Harper
For the past few years on my personal Twitter account, I have always counted down the days to the BYU Football season with the player countdown. Always going based on what player wears a certain number for the upcoming season, and giving that guy his own personal day. “Happy (insert name) Day”
There is 99 Days till BYU’s Road To Independence kicks-in to full gear against the Rebels of Ole Miss down in Oxford. So to kick things off with the player countdown, what better way to start it then with a guy who does some kicking?
#99, Riley Stephenson, Junior, Punter
Stephenson started his BYU career in 2009, when he came home from a mission. Was a member of the 2006 recruiting class and a very talented Kicker out ofPineViewHigh SchoolinSt. George,Utah.
Since arriving at BYU in 2009, Stephenson has been the starter at Punter for the Cougars. In his first game against the 3rd-RankedOklahoma Sooners in the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, Stephenson was booming punts and pinning the Sooners deep in their own territory.
Stephenson has had some ups and downs in his first two years at BYU, but overall has been a consistent contributor in the punting game for the Cougars. Will be the Cougars starter Punter for the next two seasons.
