The countdown to Ole Miss keeps on going.  Today we highlight two players who wear #96.

Reed Hornung, #96, Junior, Deep Snapper

Ever since Bronco Mendenhall has become Head Coach at BYU he has always placed a strong emphasis on the Deep Snapper.  In the past, he has even offered players scholarships to play that designated position.  Reed Hornung isn’t a scholarship player, but he did a great job in his first season in 2010.   A transfer from Snow College, Hornung is the nephew of Notre Dame & Green Bay Packer legend, Paul Hornung.

Josh Marquardt, #96, Sophomore, Defensive Line

A walk-on out of California.  Marquardt is the younger brother to former BYU players, Daniel and Michael.  Michael eventually transferred and went to Arizona State.  But younger brother, Josh is a transfer from Palomar College.  Was a part of the Scout team last season.

Historical #96’s

Chad Lewis, Tight End (1993-1996)

Lewis went from walk-on Tight End to one of the best TE’s in all of College Football as a Senior.  Lewis was known for his one-handed grabs, and hurdles over defenders.  A great player, who went on to have a All-Pro career in the NFL with the Philadelphia Eagles despite not being drafted.  Lewis currently works in the Athletic Department for BYU, and there isn’t a better man to represent BYU Athletics than Chad Lewis.  Great attitude and a great person.
