Kalama saw time in three games last year against UNLV, New Mexico, and in the New Mexico Bowl against UTEP.  A multi-sport athlete from Kaneohe, Hawaii.  Starred in baseball, track, and football.  Also, a talented rugby player.  Originally came to BYU to play Rugby, but decided to walk-on for Mendenhall’s football program instead.  One of the strongest players in terms of weight lifting in the program right now.

Historical #95’s

Gordon Hudson, Tight End (1980-1983)

Member of the College Football Hall of Fame.  Gordon Hudson was one of the greatest BYU Tight Ends of all-time.  A two-time Consensus All-American choice in 1982 and in a injury-shortened 1983 season.  Hudson had 2,484 career receiving yards and 22 touchdown grabs.  And those stats don’t include the 114 receiving yards and two TD’s he had in the two bowl games he appeared in.  Bowl game stats didn’t start counting on official stats till 2002.  Hudson not only was one of the best TE’s in BYU history, but one of the best in College Football history.

Byron Rex, Tight End (1990-1992)

Rex had the task of replacing All-American TE, Chris Smith in 1991.  But with gunslinger Ty Detmer at the control Rex transitioned nicely earning 1st Team All-WAC honors in his first year as a starter, then again in 1992.
