The countdown continues.  Today we highlight a Wide Receiver who is the complete opposite of his older brother on the team.

Rhen Brown, #87, Junior, Wide Receiver

A high-school standout back in 2005 out of South Carolina.  Brown came to BYU to follow his older brother, Terence who is an offensive lineman on this Cougar squad.  If you looked at the two you wouldn’t know at first that they are brothers.  Rhen is 5-10, 180, while Terence is 6-4 330.

Rhen has only seen time in six games so far in his career at BYU.  Looks to see possibly more time this season with players like Luke Ashworth now graduated.

Historical #87’s

Brian Billick, TE (1973-1976)

Billick was a top target for Cougar QB Gifford Nielsen hauling in 627 yards in his career. Earned 1st Team All-WAC honors as a Senior.  Most well-known for his Super Bowl win as a Head Coach with the Baltimore Ravens in Super Bowl XXXV over former Ute Head Coach, Jim Fassel’s New York Giants.

Lloyd Jones, WR (1977-1980)

A track sensation from the state of California, Jones eventually went on to earn All-American honors at BYU from the WR spot as the likes of Marc Wilson and Jim McMahon were throwing him passes.  Drafted in the 8th Round by the New York Jets but eventually was cut by the Jets later in 1981 season.

Micah Matsuzaki, WR (1989-1993)

Heralded recruit from the islands of Hawaii, Matsuzaki was a productive possession receiver in the Ty Detmer era of BYU Football.  He was even lucky enough to get a name drop on the 1990 Tysman rap by Johnny Biscut.
