Florida, Oregon, Stanford, UCLA, Washington and Wisconsin were all among the schools that offered the 4-star tight end scholarships. Holt turned down all of those big name programs to enroll at BYU and play for Bronco Mendenhall. However, a knee injury and a few disappointing years led BYU to change Holt’s position to defensive lineman. He never lived up to the billing and never excelled as a tight end in Provo. Following this past season, Holt’s RS Junior season, he was asked by the coaches to not return for his senior year and his scholarship was pulled.
