Seems weird to have a first round NFL draft pick on a list full of recruiting letdowns, but alas, that’s exactly what Lotulelei’s BYU career was. Lotulelei originally committed and signed with BYU out of high school but failed to qualify academically. Lotulelei transferred to Snow College and then ended up transferring to the University of Utah where he flourished as a defensive lineman. Lotulelei’s BYU career was over before it started and one of the prize signees of the class of 2006 never suited up for BYU. The effects of Lotulelei never making it to BYU are still being felt as his little brother, Lowell, recently turned down BYU to follow in his brother’s footsteps at Utah.
