BYU Recruiting: The Chosen Ones are Coming
By Mitch Harper
This weekend is a huge weekend for BYU Football on the recruiting front. Many recruits are coming into Provo to hold their official visits and get a taste of what BYU has to offer. This of course is the last weekend before signing day, so BYU will be the last impression these recruits visiting will get, before it is time to fax in their letters of intent.
Geoff Martzen, Director of Personnel for the football program has been tweeting great stuff leading up to this weekend. He has even dubbed the recruits visiting as “The Chosen Ones”. The Chosen Ones are believed to be a group of 15 players. Not all of these recruits are uncommitted to BYU. Some like Tyler Cook and Fred Warner are already committed to the program. Warner is obviously being heavily pursued by USC. He took an official visit to Los Angeles last week and left the Trojans committed to the Cougs still.
Four-star offensive lineman from St. John Bosco, Damien Mama is expected to be visiting. Mama has his final three schools narrowed down to Alabama, USC, and of course BYU.
Jatterius Gulley, a defensive line prospect from Alabama will be tripping to Provo as well. Gulley and Mama are the top two names to keep an eye on over the weekend.
It is believed that BYU has two junior college prospects visiting. Still trying to work on confirming names, but this weekend will be a big one.
The snowmobile trip and BYU Basketball game are on dock for the Chosen Ones along with rolling around in some fly six-passenger vans. Martzen and the Cougars are going all out to make a lasting impression on these recruits.
