Freshman LB Sione Takitaki (profiled here this week) has been dismissed from BYU. While details are not clear at this point what has led to the dismissal, Total Blue Sports tweeted this within the last hour:
BREAKING: Freshman LB Sione Takitaki has been dismissed from #BYU. Unclear currently if/when he'll be eligible to re-enroll at the school.

This will sting for BYU fans because Takitaki was one of the few three star prospects in BYU’s signing class and had offers from Pac-12 schools. He has a high ceiling and will be a great college athlete.
As we find out more about the situation we will keep you posted.
UPDATE:
To recap, Sione Takitaki was dismissed by Bronco Mendenhall but coaches & administrators stepped in to vouch for Sione & change his ruling

Bronco brought it before the entire #BYUfootball team & let them vote on it. They voted to let Takitaki remain in school & focus on that.

Takitaki will remain in school as a student only & work on rejoining the football program. Eligible to rejoin the team in January @ earliest

This is great news for the young man, the football team, and BYU fans.
