UConn started last season 0-9. The Huskies had a lame-duck interim coach in place after firing Paul Pasqualoni. The program felt helpless with little hope in sight. Then, in comes Casey Cochran.
The former two-time Gatorade Player of the Year in the state of Connecticut, Cochran came in against SMU and threw for 227 yards in a losing effort; but then started the final three games and led the Huskies to a 3-0 record. In a win over Memphis, Cochran tossed a school-record 461 yards.
Cochran has given UConn a small glimmer of hope that things will change in year one of the Bob Diaco era.
