Sources: Charlie Strong becomes ‘furious’ watching 2013 BYU-Texas film
By Mitch Harper
The 247sports.com website that covers the Texas Longhorns put out an interesting article today titled, “Longhorns already amped up to face BYU“.
In the article, Texas seniors, Quandre Diggs and Cedric Reed both describe their feelings from the beatdown BYU imposed on the Horns in Provo last season. They also talk about the upcoming matchup on September 6th. Diggs said this to 247sports:
"“As a pride factor that ought to be something you have circled on your calendar, if you’re a man. We got beat down that day. You want me to keep it real? Those guys played a better game and beat our tail. We lost a man his job, his way of earning money for his family. As a man you want to go out and beat those guys.”"
In your wildest dreams would you ever have thought a Texas Longhorn squad would be circling the Brigham Young Cougars? Neither did I. But it’s happening this year.

Even new head coach, Charlie Strong is juiced for this BYU-Texas matchup.
According to 247sports, team sources from Texas have informed them that Strong becomes “furious” when he watches the film from last year’s BYU-Texas game. Strong’s emotions and message towards this BYU game have been clear to the team according to Longhorn players.
Cedric Reed went on to say:
"“That’s all we hear about is BYU. We’re ready to play BYU.”"
This game continues to build fascinating story lines. This game in Austin against the Horns is clearly BYU’s biggest game on the 2014 schedule. The Horns are ranked number 24 in the pre-season coaches poll, and they have that Texas cache always behind them. Will BYU fold to this heightened pressure that’s been added to the game? Or can the Cougars pull off another upset over the burnt orange?
If the Cougars get the win, maybe then will Strong and the Horns start to respect the Cougars. Because obviously right now, there’s little to no respect from these guys towards BYU. There’s many critics surrounding BYU Football these days, the Longhorns are now just another voice to fuel this 2014 team.
