Steve Young Talks Taysom Hill On ESPN’s PTI
By Jeff Hansen
BYU great Steve Young is drinking the blue kool-aid, folks. He hopped on with Tony Kornheiser and Michael Wilbon today to talk about a myriad of topics. To close his segment, Kornheiser asked him about his thoughts on BYU’s big win over Texas. Almost immediately, Young got a smile on his face and started gushing about the Cougars.
One of the highlights of the interview was Young saying that Hill could be a jackhammer one play and then play a violin the next. Clearly, Young still pays close attention to his alma mater and clearly he is on the Taysom Hill bandwagon.
Young also talks about BYU’s chances of going undefeated and eventually making it into the college football playoff. “You cannot keep them out! You cannot keep them out!”

Whether BYU can even go undefeated is yet to be seen, and whether that is enough to get the Cougars into the first year of the College Football Playoff is even further from sight than an undefeated season, but one thing that we know for sure is that the hype-train is about to head to Provo tomorrow. BYU isn’t the biggest school in the country and they aren’t going to demand immediate respect like Alabama or USC, but if they’re a good team and Hill can continue to be a highlight reel, they will start to make some noise nationally.
BYU turned not only turned Jimmer (Fredette) into a household name, but they helped turn the word Jimmer into a verb. If Hill continues to play well and keeps finding his way onto ESPN, then maybe we’ll start seeing Taysommania across the country. There is still a really longs way to go before we are at that point, but I think we’re well on our way.
BYU has another shot at some highlight plays tomorrow when they play Houston on ESPN.
