In an interview with the Salt Lake Tribune, Darius McFarland said this about his commitment to BYU: “On one side, it’s a weight off my back. I’m excited to lock it in for my senior year, BYU is one of the top schools around in every category: academically, football-wise, socially and morally. It’s a privilege for me to be a part of that.” He sounds like a perfect fit for us, and a solid recruit for the cougars.
The main thing that is impressive about Darius McFarland is his speed to size ratio. He played more defensive tackle on his team, and despite weighing in at 250 he still manages to be deceptively quick. He reportedly runs a 4.8 second forty yard dash, which matches his film and shows his interesting levels of athleticism. He also played tight end for the Bees this past year, and could potentially be an interesting option for him to play. He possesses the size to be a really good blocker, but also the height and speed to catch passes effectively at the next level. I am really excited about this recruit, and I can’t wait to see him playing for us.
