Three BYU football players to participate in NFLPA Collegiate Bowl
Three BYU football players will compete in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. Kai Nacua, Algernon Brown and Andrew Eide will play in the game Saturday.
The sixth annual NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is on Saturday, and three former BYU football players will be participating.
Safety Kai Nacua, fullback Algernon Brown and offensive lineman Andrew Eide will all be playing for the American Team in the contest. They will be coached by former NFL head coach Jim Zorn.
Nacua was a 2016 Jim Thorpe Award semifinalist. He finished his BYU football career with 14 interceptions and was a two-time All-Independent First Teamer. He posted 164 tackles and 13 pass breakups in Provo and is known for his timely interceptions.
Brown was the Cougars’ main running back in 2015. He took 127 carries for 709 yards and 11 touchdowns, but transitioned to fullback in 2016.
Eide transferred from Southern Utah and immediately stepped in at left tackle. Protecting Taysom Hill and Tanner Mangum‘s blindside in 2016, Eide played on the defensive line in 2013-14 at SUU.
The goal of the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl is to feature draft-eligible players and help them prepare for a possible NFL career. In addition to the game, players are also introduced to the players’ union.
The game will feature the American Team taking on the National Team, coached by Mike Martz. The NFLPA Collegiate Bowl will be at the StubHub Center at California State University.

Eide and Brown don’t have much scouting information available. However, Nacua figures to be a late-round selection. There are some holes in his game, but his ball-hawking skills make him a unique prospect for teams looking to improve their secondary.
