BYU football is faced with the task of replacing its all-time leading rusher, Jamaal Williams. So, who is the front runner to do that?

The BYU football team has wrapped up its first week of spring practice, officially ushering in the 2017 football season.

While there’s a lot to be excited about, there are also a few questions surrounding the Cougars. Not the least of which is this:

Who is going to replace the great Jamaal Williams?

There are a number of viable options on the roster, but ultimately it’s going to be a team effort. But, let’s jump in and break down each of the front-runners.

Squally Canada

If I had to bet money, I’d put it on Canada to be BYU football’s new lead back. Not a very bold prediction, but if last season is any indication, it’ll be Canada’s job to lose.

He took 74 carries for 315 yards, and filled in admirably for Williams against Boise State. Canada ran for 88 yards on 21 carries in that game (4.2 YPC), not realizing he was going to start until minutes before kickoff.
