Davin Guinn: C-

Guinn played in all 33 games, but didn’t start any. He averaged 12.3 minutes per game.

Guinn was hyped up way back at Media Day, with Dave Rose saying he’d earned a spot in the rotation.

He was an average defender this season, but stood out because he actually put in the effort to play in the 1-3-1 zone (and man-to-man) effectively. It sounds horrible, but it really looked like there were times when the rest of the Cougars couldn’t be bothered with playing tight defense.

Guinn didn’t offer much offensively. He averaged 2.2 points per game on 35 percent shooting and 33 percent 3-point shooting.

This is the most telling stat about Guinn. In BYU victories, Guinn averaged 10 minutes per game. In losses, he averaged 16 minutes per game. So the Cougars weren’t winning when he was on the floor. That’s not entirely his fault – because him playing more was the result of foul trouble, but it’s still telling.
