Who the first team wide receivers are

Jonah Trinnaman, Micah Simon and Talon Shumway have been the starting receivers over the past couple practices.

Trinnaman caught 28 passes for 321 yards and one touchdown last season. He wasn’t what most BYU football fans were hoping for, especially after ESPN listed him as a four-star recruit. Trinnaman caught six passes in the opener against Arizona, but then managed just six total catches over the next five games.

Simon was on the practice squad last year, but lettered in 2015. He’s got the optimal receiver’s frame (6-foot-1, 195-pounds) and has shown bursts of explosiveness.

Shumway redshirted in 2015 and played in seven games last season. He caught three passes for 49 yards. Scout had Shumway as the No. 1 receiver in Utah in 2013 and he was a three-star recruit.

Outside of those three, there are a number of others who might make a splash, but Beau Tanner and Akile Davis might have the best shot at moving up the depth chart.
