After months of workouts and preparation, many former BYU football standouts got the chance to compete in front of NFL scouts at Pro Day.

BYU football held its NFL Pro Day today, giving many former Cougars a chance to impress NFL scouts.

Some rose, some fell, others held fast in terms of NFL Draft stock. But overall, it was certainly a good day for the former BYU football standouts.

Here’s what you need to know.

Taysom Hill

Firstly, in a non-analytical sense, it was great to see Taysom back out on the field and running, jumping, throwing, etc. After all the injuries, this dude is still a freak athlete.

One has to start wondering just how crazy his numbers would’ve been if he didn’t have bionic legs.

Hill ran a 4.44 40-yard dash and notched a 38.5-inch vertical jump. Not to mention, he looked like the “Thorterback” of old.

At this point, it’s tough to imagine that Hill is drafted as a quarterback (or that he’s even drafted at all). His numbers show he’s one heck of an athlete, but all NFL players are great athletes. I don’t think he can make the NFL throws as a quarterback, but there are other options for Hill.

He participated in some of the running back drills (foot speed and agility type stuff), and he might have a shot at third-down running back/goal line running back. Or he might be able to try out the safety positions. He’s got the size and speed for it, but I have no idea how he looks in coverage.

And frankly, all of these are long shots. Really, really long shots. I (sadly) just don’t see how Hill makes it at the next level.

However, he should be applauded for his efforts at Pro Day.
