BYU football: Projecting the Cougars’ 2017-18 captains
Butch Pau’u, junior linebacker OR Micah Hannemann, senior safety
Pau’u seems like the favorite between these two. He’s been more vocal during throughout the spring, and most seem to recognize that Warner-Pau’u-Bernard trio is one of the best in BYU football history.
Hannemann though, has an edge in experience. He’s played in 33 career games over his three years in Provo, opposed to Pau’u’s 18. Obviously experience isn’t everything, but it usually factors in.
There were a handful of other players considered for this spot, but ultimately Pau’u and Hannemann seem like the front runners.
Still, there’s a ton of time left for a leader to emerge as the Cougars go through offseason workouts.
