BYU football: Predicting the Cougars’ offensive depth chart
With spring ball completed, we have a little clearer picture of the BYU football depth chart. Here’s what the Cougar offense might look like this fall.
BYU football has a big year in 2017. All the Cougars need to do is win three of their first five games, then finish the season without a letdown.
If that happens, a New Year’s Six bowl is a likely destination.
But, in order for that to happen, the Cougars need to make plays offensively. The passing games needs drastic improvement, and the running backs need to step up to replace Jamaal Williams.
Here’s how the offense might look when BYU football opens its season against Portland State on August 26.
Quarterback
Starter: Tanner Mangum
Backup(s): Beau Hoge, Koy Detmer Jr.
This one is easy. Everyone knows this is Tanner Mangum’s team – and there’s no other quarterback on the roster that’s even close to pushing him. Mangum’s age might not be ideal for NFL teams, but Mangum will likely be getting NFL shots when his time in Provo is done. So enjoy it while it lasts, Cougar fans.
