BYU Football ended the 2007 season on one of the most miraculous finishes to a bowl game in recent memory.

A second straight 11-win season saw BYU football earn a third consecutive postseason trip to Las Vegas in 2007.

Despite winning the Mountain West Conference with an 8-0 record, BYU would face UCLA in a regular season rematch.

Earlier, the then-No. 13 Bruins handed BYU one of its two losses, 27-17 at the Rose Bowl.

BYU jumped out to a 10-3 lead in the second quarter thanks to a 14-yard touchdown pass from Max Hall to Austin Collie.

Another Hall touchdown, this time a 13-yard completion to Michael Reed with 1:08 to play in the first half, put BYU up 17-6.

Hall would finish the game 21-for-35 with 231 yards and two touchdowns.

BYU looked poised to take that 11-point lead to the locker room. However, a 4-yard completion from McLeod Bethel-Thompson to Brand Breazell as the first half ended cut that lead to four.

The gift came after BYU decided to run the ball with 19 seconds left in the half from their own 4-yard line instead of taking a knee. Freshman Harvey Unga fumbled, setting up the Bruin touchdown.

Kai Forbath hit his second field goal of 50+ yards in the fourth to cut BYU’s lead to one with 6:24 to play.

A punt after a three-and-out saw BYU pin UCLA on their own two-yard line with 2:02 to play. A 12-play, 87-yard drive set up a chip shot 28-yard field goal attempt for Forbath to win the game.

Those final three seconds will be remembered forever thanks to the fingertips of defensive lineman Eathyn Manumaleuna.

The 6-foot-2, 305 lb. defensive lineman blocked Forbath´s field goal attempt to seal the 17-16 win for the Cougars.
