BYU football: Determining the All-2000s Cougar squad
Defensive Line: Ezekiel Ansah
Years Active: 2010-12
Career Stats: 72 total tackles; 4.5 sacks; 13.5 TFL; 1 INT
Every BYU football fan knows Ziggy Ansah’s story. He didn’t know how to put pads on when he made the team, waiting for teammates to help him lace and latch his shoulder pads.
He probably never would have even played had Eathyn Manumaleuna not suffered a season-ending injury in 2012. But, Ziggy took the field.
And never looked back.
He was incredibly impressive to watch. He’s the only defensive lineman I have ever seen line up over the center, then catch a running back seven yards downfield off a screen pass. His athleticism was off the charts.
