Jamaal Williams is BYU football’s all-time leading rusher. While he prepares for the NFL Draft, check out this very cool documentary.

“I came to BYU because they gave me an opportunity and because they let me be myself.”

That’s what Jamaal Williams said in Media Mangy’s new documentary on his journey through BYU football. The school’s all-time leading rusher has made Cougar fans drop their jaws on a number of occasions on the field, but this documentary gives fans a behind-the-scenes look.

It focuses a lot on his NFL Pro Day experience. Williams also gives a tour of the BYU campus. It doesn’t really mention him leaving the school, but that’s totally fine. The documentary has a narrative that doesn’t really need anything on his withdrawal.

If you have 35 minutes, you simply have to check out the video below.

Also featured are BYU religion professor Dr. Mark Ogletree (father of former BYU linebacker Brandon Ogletree) and Nicole Williams, Jamaal’s mother.

They provide some great background on Jamaal and BYU football and the culture of BYU. As a non-Mormon at a Mormon school, Williams had every reason to not return to Provo. It is a testament to his character, his supportive family and his love for BYU football that he returned.

But Dr. Ogletree may have summed up Jamaal best.

Next: Jamaal Williams to Philly?

“What you see is what you get,” Dr. Ogletree said. “He’s always happy, he’s always dancing… he’s the life of the party wherever he goes.”

Williams is clearly an incredible person. He loves BYU, he loves people and he’s a great ambassador for BYU football.

I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing Williams a number of times over the last year or so. He’s an incredibly easy person to root for.

As he prepares for the NFL Draft, it seems like he’s solidified a third or fourth round selection for himself. We’ll find out in just a week where he ends up.
