BYU football will make a New Year’s Six bowl

The formula for this is simple. Beat everyone not named LSU and Wisconsin.

Hey, I said it would be simple, not easy.

If BYU football finished 11-2, with both losses coming to likely-top 10 squads, then guess what? The Cougars are playing on New Year’s Day for the first time in 21 years.

The Cougars will have tough tasks against Utah and Boise State at home, and Mississippi State on the road. But those three games are all winnable contests… not that BYU will be favored in all three, but they’re certainly winnable.

Assuming there’s no hiccup in the rest of the schedule, and BYU can take care of business, the Cougars will likely be ranked in the top 15 come bowl season.

And that’s a good place to be.
