Reason No. 2: There’s A Need

The Patriots have a need at linebacker. Well, not in a traditional sense.

New England has utilized Rob Ninkovich in a hybrid role for years now. He’s a defensive end at times, and a pass-rushing outside linebacker at others. Ninkovich is getting older, so the Patriots are looking to find someone to groom and take his place.

Enter Langi.

He’s got experience all over the field. With BYU football he played middle linebacker, outside linebacker, defensive end and hybrid edge.

Not only is there a need in New England, but everyone knows how much Bill Belichick appreciates versatility (it was one of the reasons he was so high on Kyle Van Noy).
