17. BYU vs Creighton NIT (2016)

Postseason play is wonderful, even in the nation’s second-best basketball tournament.

It was a year where the Cougars just never quite lived up to their potential. But a nice little run in the NIT brought Cougar fans tightly-packed into the lower bowl of the Marriott Center. Coming off another amazing game (later on this list), this time they would square off against perennial NCAA team, the Creighton Bluejays.

Only, there was a hitch. Starting point guard, Mr. Triple Double Kyle Collinsworth, had the flu.

So he started on the bench, watching as the Bluejays came out hot, leading the Cougars, taking advantage of the lack of cohesion without their starting ball handler on the floor. Three-point bomber Chase Fischer was struggling, and Creighton looked every bit a team that just missed going to the Big Dance.

Then in comes Collinsworth, pale and looking drained just running up the floor. But he gets a bucket. And then another. He moves the offense, and Zac Seljaas steps up to deliver some big bombs. The Cougars start to find themselves.

They win it, moving on to Madison Square Garden for the NIT semis.

Hey, all the greats have a flu game. I guess.
