15. 2013: Cougars take care of Utah State

During a good chunk at the beginning of his tenure, head coach Dave Rose had trouble with just one in-state team: Utah State.

By the time 2013 had rolled around, due to the series not having been played every year, Rose was only an even .500 against the Logan-based school, when Weber, SUU, and even Utah had all fallen more often than not.

The Aggies had been known to show a good presence at the home of the Jazz when they get a chance to play there against BYU. That year, their crowd was particularly good.

An imposing student section (bolstered by free rides down on the Frontrunner via their student UTA passes) was loud and organized, and Utah State fans filled in nicely to make it a true neutral atmosphere.

This Aggie team was coming in undefeated and confident. They put pressure on the Cougars from the beginning, grinding and attacking, bolstered by their boisterous crowd and their less-than-flattering student signs that TV cameras were nimble to avoid.

It was a battle. Bodies on the floor. But thanks in part to freshmen Frank Bartley and Eric Mika, along with the ever-reliable Tyler Haws, the Cougars sent the Aggies home with only their non sequitur chants for comfort.

Scoreboard.

Bonus: Future Cougar Kyle Davis played for the Aggies that day, scoring 16 points and pulling in 9 rebounds.
