14. 2010: Cougars take out Arizona–Again

The Arizona Wildcats had to be thinking: what Jimmer Fredette did to us last year had to be a fluke. Right?

Wrong.

BYU couldn’t convince Arizona to make their return game to the Marriott Center, where head coach Dave Rose had a gaudy winning percentage. So instead it was back to ESA in Salt Lake, where they hoped to have better luck and a sparser crowd of Cougar faithful.

The latter was probable, but the former… not so much.

Although Jimmer keyed the Cougars on offense, this was a particularly good defensive game for the blue and white. Even with BYU’s high-octane pace, the Wildcats only managed 65 points. They only had 25 at halftime.

Derrick Williams, who now regularly suits up with the Cleveland Cavaliers as an NBA journeyman, was held to 3 points in the second half.

The Wildcats were by no means a bad team. But this night, BYU basketball was just better.
