10. BYU downs Virginia Tech in NIT (2016)

Everyone knows that the NIT is not the ideal situation. But even the lowliest game in the runner-up tournament is a big jump in tension over many regular season games.

It doesn’t hurt that Cougar fans bring an electric atmosphere to their home in Provo. Add to that a pair of hungry teams wanting to prove they are better than their postseason destination, and a senior Kyle Collinsworth that is not going out lightly, and it’s a recipe for an intense, closely fought, highly executed game that any casual fan of basketball can enjoy.

Sometimes with all the high emotion, tournament games can get ugly. Lose and go home brings out the angst. But this one was beautiful. A masterpiece of good, simple entertainment.
