BYU football announced at Media Day that they will honor Marc Wilson, Robbie Bosco, and Luke Staley by retiring jersey No. 6 this fall.

When BYU football fans pack LaVell Edwards Stadium on September 16th, not only will they watch the Cougars take on Wisconsin, but they’ll also be able to honor three of the greatest players to wear BYU blue.

During today’s Media Day, BYU announced that they will retire No. 6 in honor of Marc Wilson, Robbie Bosco, and Luke Staley, all who wore that number.

This will be the sixth number retired by BYU in football, along with  Nos. 8 (Steve Young), 9 (Jim McMahon), 14 (Gifford Nielsen and Ty Detmer), 40 (Eldon Fortie), and 81 (Marion Probert).

Wilson, Bosco, and Staley will be honored at halftime of the BYU-Wisconsin game (1:30pm MT). The game will be nationally televised on either ABC or ESPN, but fans now have extra incentive to pack LaVell Edwards Stadium rather than watching from home.

Here’s a look at all the careers of all three BYU football legends.
