BYU basketball: Zach Frampton transfers to Dixie State
BYU basketball guard Zach Frampton is leaving the Cougars and transferring to Dixie State.
Dixie State head basketball coach Jon Judkins announced today that three players – including former BYU basketball guard Zach Frampton – would be joining the roster.
Frampton didn’t do much for BYU basketball last season. As a freshman he played in just 13 games, averaging 3.9 minutes. He put up 0.4 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.2 assists per game.
His season-high in points (three) came in the Cougars’ NIT loss to UT-Arlington in Provo. That game was also the only time all season where Frampton eclipsed the 10-minute mark, logging 17 minutes of game action.
Before Frampton joined BYU basketball, he was part of the Lone Peak High School (UT) teams that became a dynasty. He won four-straight Utah state 5A titles. As a senior he averaged 11.3 points and 6.8 rebounds per game and dropped a career-best 24 in the title game. His dad, Alan, also suited up for one season with the Cougars.

Unfortunately, in a somewhat tumultuous year for BYU basketball, Frampton never found much footing. He was buried towards the end of the bench, so this transfer was probably a good move for him.
Obviously, we wish nothing but the best for Frampton. Hopefully with more playing time and less pressure, he can regain some of his Lone Peak era form.
The Trailblazers went 19-9 last season, including a 16-4 conference mark and 11-1 record at home.
According to DSU’s website, Frampton is a four-year transfer to the program.
The players joining Frampton are Julien Ducree, a transfer from Cal State Monterey Bay and Josh Newbold out of Bingham High School (UT).
