BYU football: The 10 best performances of the Independence era
No. 3: Taysom Hill vs No. 16 Texas (2013)
Hill broke out the best performance of his BYU career against a ranked Texas Longhorns team in the friendly confines of LaVell Edwards Stadium.
The Stats:
Hill completed just 9-of-26 passes for 129 yards, but took 17 carries for 259 yards (15.2 yards per carry) and three touchdowns in BYU’s 40-21 win over ranked Texas. The Cougars ran Texas out of town, and Longhorns defensive coordinator Manny Diaz out of a job.
What They Said:
Taysom Hill told the Associated Press after the game that the Cougars knew they could run:
“We expected to run on them. But we didn’t expect to break the school record. It was working and we were able to move the ball really efficiently on the ground. There was no need to go away from it, so we didn’t.
