BYU football: The Cougars’ three most important players in 2017-18

Warner is the best linebacker in one of the best linebacking groups in the nation.

It’s really that simple.

The reason Warner made this list over Pau’u is because Warner does more things at a higher level than Pau’u. Pau’u is a great down-hill run stopper. He’s an excellent tackler, and he’s adept at attacking blockers and stuffing holes.

Warner is good at all of those things, plus he’s a better pass rusher, and infinitely better in pass coverage. Not to mention, he’ll be one of BYU football’s captains (so add in some leadership ability).
