Thanks to a favorable schedule order, BYU football will have an experience advantage in every regular season game in 2017.

It’s that time of year again. We are just over one month away from the first kickoff and college football fans everywhere are already having dreams of their team holding up the National Championship Trophy.

BYU football fans also get caught up in the hype.

Somehow, fans look at the schedule and believe that somehow, their team will run the table. They convince themselves that every game is a winnable game, therefore, an undefeated season is the obvious outcome.

As BYU enters this season, many fans are already starting to think like this. Fans get offended when they see a projected 8.8-4.2 record.

Obviously there are a lot of questions coming into the season that could lead to that kind of projection. The lack of Jamaal Williams, and the Tanner Mangum mystery are on the top of that list. Was Mangum as good as we remember him, or were his three 6-foot-5+ receivers, two Hail Mary touchdowns, and relatively easy schedule enough to bail him out making him look better than he really was?

In a few weeks we find out.

Assuming that Mangum is as good as fans remember him, then based off of the playing style and order of the schedule that BYU football plays, there is a case to believe that the Cougars can finish with a record of 13-0.

If they were to play LSU in week eight they would very likely lose. If they play Wisconsin in week nine they lose as well. However, because of the order, they gain a huge edge over not only these teams, but every team on their schedule.

It may be a longshot, but here’s how BYU football can destroy every projection, overcome every odd, and finish perfect.
