No. 1: Lorenzo Fauatea will lead BYU football in sacks

BYU football has some very capable pass rushers this season. Sione Takitaki is back, Fred Warner is an excellent rusher, as is Francis Bernard.

But the sack leader will be a true freshman – Zo Fauatea.

Fauatea turned many heads when he was listed at 295-pounds, meaning he put on 30-pounds since Signing Day. At 6-foot-4, he’s got the size to stop the run, while it looks like he still has speed to rush the passer.

Takitaki will likely have the Stud LB/DE spot locked down, but Fauatea will likely rotate in to begin the year, spelling Corbin Kaufusi and some of the defensive tackles. In fact, Zo has already worked in the two-deep defensive tackle depth chart early in camp.

By the end of the season, he’ll be starting and he’ll lead BYU football in sacks.
