BYU football: Three bold predictions after one week of fall camp
No. 2: Mo Langi will only play on special teams
Look, I love Big Mo as much as the next guy. His story is great, he’s a really nice kid and no one has had a single poor thing to say about him or his work ethic.
I just don’t see him making much of an impact on the defense. And that’s not just this year – I don’t think he’ll make an impact on defense during his career.
You just don’t find players like that too often. BYU football hit on Ziggy Ansah, so what are the odds that just a few years later, Mountain Mo works out too?
Hopefully I’m wrong – and the “unnamed OG” who was steamrolled by Mountain Mo would argue I am – but even if he doesn’t play on defense, he’ll have a home.
And that will be on special teams. His size lends itself particularly well to the extra point/field goal team, as well as the kick block team.
So, no defense for Big Mo, but special teams in 2017.
